A dental crown can protect and strengthen a damaged tooth or restore a dental implant. Dr. Eccles exclusively uses porcelain dental crowns for a natural look. When used on one of your natural teeth, a crown completely caps the tooth with a custom-shaped restoration indistinguishable from a healthy-looking tooth. In the case of dental implants, a porcelain crown is secured to the implant for a strong tooth replacement. In either case, your dental crown will look and function great.
For convenience, we’ll use a local lab to have your restorations made. You’ll get excellent results with quick turnaround times and the highest quality control.

To fill a gap left by one tooth or several teeth in a row, Dr. Eccles can use replacement teeth called pontics that form a bridge. To keep the bridge in place, he will either attach the bridge to the teeth surrounding the gap using crowns or attach the bridge to dental implants. With implants, you won’t have to remove tooth structure from any healthy teeth.
Only you and your dentist can decide, based on the condition of your smile, your budget, and other factors. Crowns are a versatile restoration that can be used to repair many kinds of dental damage. But sometimes it is better and more cost effective to use another restoration. For example, while a crown attached to an implant can replace a tooth, crowns aren’t the best choice if you are missing several teeth.
We use porcelain for our crowns, a material known for its durability and stain resistance. Because of this, your crown should last at least a decade and possibly years longer than that. The longevity of crowns is affected by several factors, though, including where it’s located in your mouth and how well you care for your teeth.
